New Avian Record for Anhui: Arctic "Vagrant" Red Phalarope Sighted in Huangshan District, Huangshan City

On February 1, during a field observation in Huangshan District, Liu Jingwen, a staff member of the Huangshan Green and Full Jianghuai Nature Conservation Center, accidentally discovered and recorded an extremely rare waterbird in a local river. The sighting was later confirmed by Chen Xiaochun, director of the Jiulongfeng Reserve Management Station, and ornithological experts as a Red Phalarope.

This discovery marks the first documented record of the species in Anhui Province with definitive photographic evidence, adding a valuable new member to the research on avian biodiversity in the region.
