French teens immerse in Huizhou culture at Yixian's ancient village
On July 26, Nanping village in Huangshan's Yixian county received a group of French teenagers on a cultural trip to discover the beauty of ancient Huizhou traditions.
The young visitors immersed themselves in Chinese heritage by measuring the historic Wansong Bridge with their hands, wearing Hanfu, and practicing calligraphy.
Nanping village, a well-preserved Huizhou merchant settlement, features deep alleys, ancestral halls, and ancient homes, creating a living museum of Huizhou culture. The French students started their journey by exploring the history of Wansong Bridge, using their hands to feel its size, and engaging with centuries-old craftsmanship. Afterwards, they pushed wooden wheelbarrows, recreating the transport challenges of ancient times.

Dressed in traditional Hanfu, the teens practiced calligraphy by dipping brushes into ink to write Chinese characters, guided throughout the process. Their interest deepened as they learned bamboo weaving from local artisans, admiring the intricate craft.

This visit not only deepened the French youths'appreciation for Chinese traditions but also showcased the village's efforts in safeguarding and sharing intangible heritage. As international interest increases, Nanping is set to serve as a catalyst for more cross-cultural exchanges ahead.
